Guide to setting up pensopay in Shopify

Here we go through how you integrate your pensopay payment apps with your Shopify webshop.

TL;DR

  • pensopay makes it possible to integrate your payment apps with Shopify, so you can receive payments directly in your webshop.
  • pensopay goes through how you create an API key, find the relevant app in Shopify, and connect the solution correctly.
  • Remember to test your purchase flow after the setup, so you are sure that the payment works correctly in checkout.

Once you have created an account and sent us an application, you are ready to activate your pensopay payment solution in your Shopify.

1. Find your keys

  1. Go to your pensopay system.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Keys and click Create new key.
  3. Name the key (e.g. “Shopify”) and create it.
  4. Copy the newly created API key
  5. NOTE!: Please be aware that it is the API key and NOT the Private key that you are copying :)

2. Find and install the desired pensopay app

  1. Log in to your Shopify administration.
  2. Go to Settings > Payments.
  3. Under the Additional payment methods section, click Add payment methods.
  4. Select the Search by provider tab and search for “pensopay”.
  5. Select the relevant app from the list.
  6. Then click Install
  7. You should end up in a window where you need to insert an API key

3. Activation of payment app

  1. When you have entered your API key and clicked Install app, you must click the green button to activate the payment app for your customers.
  2. Important regarding the Credit Cards app: Even if you can tick different payment icons, this does not mean that you automatically have access to these payment methods. You can only receive payments from the methods that you have an active agreement for through pensopay.

4. Test and important settings

  1. Test your connection: Under the app settings in Shopify, you will find the Test mode field. Mark Enable test mode and save. Complete a test purchase.
  2. Important: Remember to deactivate test mode afterwards!
  3. Handling of payments (Auto-capture): Please be aware of whether your shop automatically captures the money right away. If you want to capture it manually, you must change the setting for “Payment capture”.
